NCAP Forms Partnerships with Key U.S. and U.K. Education Organizations

New Relationships with Foster Parent College, British Adoption & Fostering AcademyAre Designed to Expand Work for Children, Promote `Family Success’ in Both Countries

BOSTON, April 14, 2016 – The National Center on Adoption and Permanency is very proud to announce two major partnerships designed to expand and accelerate efforts to improve child welfare systems across national borders and, most importantly, to enhance the lives of the children, adults and families those systems serve. NCAP’s new partners are Foster Parent College, which offers training courses for foster, adoptive and kinship families and families across the U.S., in Canada, England and Australia; and CoramBAAF Adoption & Fostering Academy, the largest nonprofit organization in Great Britain dedicated to improving outcomes for children and the professionals who serve them.

NCAP is working with each partner to shape joint programs and projects – as well as to strengthen current initiatives – in order to advance our respective missions; we will provide details about our collaborative efforts in the coming months. Most pointedly, the work of both partnerships will further NCAP’s overarching objective: to move child welfare policy and practice beyond their current “child placement” model to a new paradigm explicitly focused on enabling “family success.”

“NCAP is a unique organization with a vision that we share and the right people to make it a reality,” said Rick or Lee, with their Foster College title right here. “So we see this partnership as a huge opportunity to make significant progress, both in our own work and in achieving systemic change.”

”We expect our partnership with NCAP to improve the quality and impact of both organizations’ work,” said John Simmonds, CoramBAAF’s Director of Policy and Research. “We’re very excited about the possibilities and believe they will make a genuine difference in both our countries.”

The CoramBAAF Adoption &Fostering Academy was formed in 2015 when the 35-year- old British Association for Adoption and Fostering joined the Coram Group of charities, which has been advancing the welfare, education, and rights of children in the UK for over 275 years. Foster Parent College offers a broad range of research-based, interactive online parenting courses for caregivers – as well as for professionals – to help them provide a healthy, safe environment for the children in their care.
